There's are so many different types of love, and love isn't just confined to the romantic kind. There is love for family, love for friendship, and even love for oneself. These all have one thing in common - all love is in the tiniest actions that you do. Your first love doesn't always have to be your partner. It can be your mom, your dad, and even your fluffy dear pet. In celebration of Valentine's Day, international yoga instructor Robyn Lau tells us about her first love. Read on to find out what love means to her and learn more about her upcoming marriage to the love of her life.
Q: Please introduce yourself to us.
I'm Robyn and I'm an international yoga teacher that is based on Kuala Lumpur.
Q: Can you tell us about your first love?
OK so let me tell you about my first love, who is obviously my dad. He is the smartest, bravest man I know, and through him, through his commitment towards our family, I've learned the value of respect, kindness, patience and unconditional love.
Q: What is love to you?
To me, love is the actions you do, the tiniest actions you do for other people. And now, finally, I found the love of my life and I'm getting married this April. This man believes in me. He continuously support me wholeheartedly so that I'm able to pursue my personal goals.
Q: What is your moment in love?
Honestly right, I never... it's always that moment of time in videos or movies and people always say there's that moment where you realize like OMG I love this person. I never had that feeling, but it was always a moment of realization. Maybe when I'm alone or when I'm doing something, I'm like "oh, that happened last week." And we reacted a certain way, and I'm like "I guess I love that person." So it was always like that to me.
Q: What is your favourite thing about your partner?
What I appreciate and love most about this guys is he makes me feel safe in every way. He makes me feel safe to be on my own. He makes me feel safe while I'm with him, and he makes me feel safe to be honest. To open up to him about my fears, my insecurities, my aspirations. He makes me feel so safe that I don't get embarrassed talking to him about these things, worried that he'll judge me for it.
