2021 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas - Indoor Edition
Seeing how you clicked into this article, chances are you’re curious, or you need some Valentine’s Day date ideas. We are happy to help!
What constitutes as a date is different for everyone. While it's apparent that COVID-19 has affected the way we do everything daily, the idea of staying in may not sound as exciting as what we’re used to doing when we want to go all out for our S.O. However, with a little creativity, you can create some of the most special dates (dare we say most memorable too?) even if means sprucing it up while staying in this Valentine’s Day.
Here’s a (pretty) extensive guide to celebrating Valentine’s Day this year. Valentine’s falls on a Sunday making it perfect to plan a full day of activities - If you do decide to head out on this special day, let’s be responsible by following the SOP’s and wearing a face mask. Not only for your protection but your loved ones’ as well.
Game Night (with a twist!)
Gather a stack of board/card/video games, make sure to stock up on drinks and snacks, put on a playlist and play the night away. I’m sure you’re wondering where the twist comes in. Well, the twist involves stakes set ahead of time. The stake could be anything you want your partner to do when they lose the game. It could be to do household chores for a week, proclaim your love by yelling to the whole neighbourhood your lover’s name or even just taking an embarrassing photo and posting it online.
V-Day Cook Off
Ever since Covid started, there has been an endless supply of online classes to choose from. Instead of ‘tapau-ing’, consider going through an online cooking class. Not only is it a fun activity to do together, but it’s also a guaranteed hands-on way to a delectable meal, learning a new skill and at the same time bonding with your partner. If you would like to kick things up a notch, challenge your partner to a cook-off! You can either pre-plan what ingredients you’ll be using or use whatever is in the pantry. The best part of this is that it doesn’t have to be fancy, or cost a lot, and yet, it’s double the fun. So what are you waiting for? Time to cook up some romance!
Camp out in the Living Room
Building your very own fort with fairy lights, pillows and blankets make for such a romantic evening just chilling. If you’re anything like celebrity couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, they’d love nothing more than to spend their evening date indoors. Get some moisture sheet face masks, jade rollers and binge-watching on your favourite television series. You could always set the tone by lighting up some candles, playing soothing music in the background and making it your very own in-fort spa.
Spend V-Day with Josh Groban
International concerts were absent for pretty much the whole of 2020 as every tour and festival was postponed or cancelled due to the pandemic. Now, here's your chance to spend the evening getting serenaded by Josh Groban in your living room! The four-time Grammy-nominated singer recently announced that he'll be releasing an intimate live stream concert on the most romantic day of the year. So sit back and enjoy the music. The live stream starts on February 14 at 5 p.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased on his official website and cost $30, plus a $2 ticket fee (RM139).

Learn Tik-Tok Dances
This may seem like a silly suggestion, but if you have ever tried re-creating tik-tok dances, they can be quite addictive. But more importantly, they are fun to do with your partner! These dances are fun to learn, and though they take some time to learn, you’re creating new memories by putting both your dancing abilities to the test. Who knows? Your videos may even go viral, and you become official Tik-tok stars!

Ice Skating
Some may attest saying this is highly over-rated, but it remains in the list! Why do you ask? We love the idea of ice skating dates (especially if it’s your first Valentine’s Day together) because chances are, both parties won’t be great at it. Hence we can laugh at each other while still making it cheesily romantic by gliding over an ice rink, holding on to your date with mitten-clad hands. Admissions start at RM30. Do note that socks and gloves are charged separately, so do bring your own if you have one to spare.

Pottery Class
Did you know that ceramics is one of the oldest forms of technology we have? After cooking meat, baking clay was one of the first things humankind did to chemically alter the environment on purpose. If both you and your partner like getting your hands dirty, it has been told that pottery is a great stress reliever. It allows both of you to self-express and gets creative. You can’t help but feel a sense of gratification. A lump of mud, set on a spinning wheel, shaped and formed by motion into something useful. By the end of it, you can gift each other your creations. Ta-da! Valentine’s day gift checked.
There is a special February program for you lovers available at Clay Expression. A 2-hour course with “free flow” of clay at the price of RM440.

Plan a Getaway
Seeing how V-day falls on a Sunday, it gives you the perfect time to book a staycation over the weekend. Book a room, soak in the tub to release all your stresses (at least for one night), order up some delicious room service and treat yourselves to a relaxing Valentine’s Day weekend.
We have a few suggestions in mind, but what if you could win one instead!

LDR Valentine’s
Virtual Valentine’s Day on video call may not be the most ideal. However, if you think about it, it makes it all the more special/meaningful because it takes double the effort showing how committed you are to one another. No matter where your partner is in the world, I hope it’s just a matter of time until you and your loved one can be reunited again. But in the meantime, don’t let distance limit all the other amazing ways you can still celebrate together. One thoughtful idea is a Valentine’s Day package. Wherever they are in the world, you can always surprise your S.O with a box of their favourite things. It could be something as simple getting a heart-shaped pizza delivered to their doorstep. Ah the beauty of online purchasing!
Single Valentines
You’re not left out! There’s a lot of disdain towards Valentine’s Day that comes from the pressure of needing to be in a relationship. But there are so many forms of love other than a romantic one. All these valentines day ideas are very much applicable to you whether you’re into Valentine’s day as a single or not. Just treat it like any other day, get your besties together and go all out. Because, why not? We don’t need a special day to tell someone how much we love them - a lot of us chose to be single, or maybe you’re still longing for a special someone to come along. We’d say embrace singlehood and know that when the time is right, it’s meant to be.
There’s no hard or fast rule as to how one celebrates this special occasion. These are just ideas, after all. You can always come up with your own and start a new tradition together if it makes it all that more special because it is shared between the two of you. No matter big or small the gesture is, we hope to leave you with a thought. If anything, Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to remind ourselves of how lucky we are to have love in our lives. Happy Valentine’s Day from BloomThis to you.
