Plant-based lifestyle advocate Davina Goh once swam 9km across the ocean to raise funds for marine conservation. She believes that flowers have a healing quality about them and that they deserve to be appreciated not just by women, but by everyone.

You’d be surprised to know that Davina chose to include casa fruit in her flower arrangement. “Farmers would plant these casa fruits to attract butterflies to their garden,” she explained. “When I look at this bouquet, I feel proud that I could create something eclectic and unexpected, yet retain a beautiful aesthetic.”

Davina’s story of friendship is one that is moving - she had to keep it a secret for a while because her parents didn’t approve that her best friend was of a different race. However, it all changed when he showed his concern for her during her appendicitis attack a few years ago. Her friend stayed with her in the hospital for days, and Davina’s mom finally expressed her approval for their friendship. “It was the happiest day of my life,” she said, eyes shining.

Taking inspiration from her unconventional friendship, Davina’s floral arrangement is crafted with casa fruit, tinted burgundy hydrangeas, burgundy roses and rose sprays and embellished with lush ruscus leaves to complement the unique colour palette. “I hope that the owner of this bouquet will be reminded that they are the casa fruit to someone else’s butterfly,” she said.
